Job Title: PCB Design Engineer.
 
Shift:  Monday to Friday 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
 
Job Summary: As a PCB Design Engineer at SAMTEC, you’ll be responsible for designing the bridge between our high-speed connectors and our EyeSpeed® bulk cable. Your focus will be on ensuring every solution is both technically sound and practical for fabrication.
You’ll work closely with High-Speed Cable Application Engineers, customers, and SI Engineers to turn concepts into production-ready designs. The role combines problem-solving, technical know-how, and strong communication skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.  
 
Functions:  
  • Work directly with Application Engineers and customers to understand their needs and design the best PCB to meet both the customer’s and production’s needs.
  • Implement the latest PCB design techniques to optimize signal integrity, power delivery, and overall transmission line quality.
  • Stay current on the latest PCB materials and supplier capabilities to maximize our design capabilities.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of a wide range of products and components.  Most designs are loosely based off existing solutions so having a working knowledge of all standards and previous customs will be of great benefit in new layouts.
  • Answer technical questions that come your way.
  • Assist Application Engineers in reviewing and importing / exporting of customer provided Gerber files.
  • Work with vendors to answer EQs and resolve any issues that come up with build.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in Autocad, Fab3000, or other PCB design experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing customer requirements and technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering; connector / PCB industry experience is a plus.
